An avid freshwater fisherman for years as a youth in local lakes around the Los Angeles area and saltwater from piers and boats.
Got away from it as I was building a career and family, but got back into
it about 6 years ago, starting back in freshwater and at the urging of
a friend at work (Norm) I tried out light line surf fishing with plastic grubs.
Had a blast and haven't looked back.
Fishing salmon/steelhead rods with 6-8 lb test made catching the perch and other species a blast and got me hooked.
I had never really surf fished considering the long poles and sand spikes a little overkill.
Looking for more info on my new sport in Southern California,
I found the web site SCSurfFishing.com and the info that I gleaned from the articles section got me on the right road.
Not to mention the myriad of friends and acquaintances that I have met through this excellent resource.
I signed up for the WCSSA Tournament on a whim and a free offer on
SCSF by Jay Douglas of the tournament committee. I had know idea that after a long 45 week schedule that I would be announced the World Champion ... and I'm totally jazzed!
