Jason Bryant spent his summers as a teenager honing his angling skills on one of the best bass fisheries in the world -- Sam Rayburn Reservoir in east Texas. In recent years he has used his bass fishing background to make a jump to the salty waters of the Texas coast. Jason is a shallow water specialist who uses a kayak as his primary method for sneaking up on unsuspecting, marsh-dwelling redfish. He is a member of the Coastal Kayak Angler advisory board and a frequent contributor to several publications including Kayak Fisherman Magazine, Redfish Nation, and Gulf Coast Connections.

RECENT QUOTE : This series has been plagued by horrible weather all year long. Coming in to the last event of the year, I was sitting in third place and nearly three pounds behind the current leader. I knew it would take a heavy stringer to make up that weight and I had found some quality fish prefishing for the event. The problem was, the current points leader in the AOY race and my good friend Clint Barghi had prefished with me and found some quality fish of his own.

For once, we actually had good weather on tournament day and not just that... the fish were actively feeding in preparation for a front that would move through later that evening. I ended the day with a Texas slam (speckled trout, redfish, and flounder) that totaled more than twelve pounds. That turned out to be enough to move me up three places and into the winners' circle.
